CLOTHING/Household Goods

  • Milford parents post about available gently-used clothing, toys, baby gear, etc. on Milford NH Mothers Community Facebook page.
  • Mother & Child is a local consignment shop that provides quality second-hand clothing for babies and children. Mother & Child is located at 135 State Route 101-A in Amherst.
  • SHARE Outreach’s Clothing Barn in Milford provides new and gently used clothing to families in need.
  • SHARE Outreach also hosts a Holiday gift program. Contact SHARE for more information.

HOUSING

  • New Hampshire Housing offers a number of different homeownership programs to help make homeownership more affordable.  While the specific programs may have different income limits, in general, they serve borrowers with incomes up to $137,400. For more details visit NH Housing’s website.
  • For Rental Assistance information or Homeowner assistance support, contact SHARE Outreach located in Milford.
  • Southern New Hampshire Services’ fuel assistance program provides financial assistance to pay for vital heating and utility expenses through the colder months, as well as support to develop a plan to avoid energy-related emergencies such as running out of heating fuel. For this year, pre-applications are available first to families with young children under 6, elderly and individuals who experience a disability. Call the Southern New Hampshire Services Milford office: (603) 924-2243. SNHS has office hours at SHARE in Milford.

FOOD

  • The Milford Farmers Market is held outdoors seasonally on Saturdays from 10:00 – 1:00 at 300 Elm St in Milford. In the colder months starting in November, the market is held every other Saturday at Town Hall, 1 Union Square, 3rd floor, Milford.
  • Are you currently struggling to pay for food? Milford Welfare can help families apply for Food Stamps or the “SNAP,” Supplemental Nutrition and Assistance program. SHARE Outreach has a Food Pantry in its Milford offices.
  • Nutrition Connections is New Hampshire’s home for the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education (SNAP-Ed). Programs are offered at no cost to low-income families, adults with children, and seniors who receive food stamps, WIC, CSFP, TANF, or SSI. For more information, email: Kate Graves.
  • The Women, Infants & Children (WIC) program provides nutrition education, food and community support for income-eligible women who are pregnant or post-partum, infants and children up to five years old. Milford families should contact Southern New Hampshire Services to inquire about eligibility.
  • End 68 Hours of Hunger puts nourishing food in the hands of school children to carry them through the weekend. Each bag of food provides two breakfasts, two lunches, and three dinners for a child, with some left over to share! If you have or know a child who would benefit from this program please reach out to their school counselor or email the Milford program coordinator at MilfordNH@end68hoursofhunger.org

OTHER

  • The Refurbished Equipment Marketplace is a centralized depository of previously owned assistive technologies that have been donated, cleaned, refurbished and made available to individuals throughout NH. Equipment includes wheelchairs, mobility aids, hospital beds, bath aids, scooters, portable ramps and more. This service is helpful for those individuals who do not have health coverage for such items or for those who find the cost of new technology prohibitive.
