Are you a grandparent raising and caring for your young grandchild(ren)? Or a relative helping to support young family members?

More and more, people across New Hampshire are finding themselves unexpectedly parenting a young relative. It’s a beautiful act of family love; avoids the child having to go into the foster care system, and keeps the family together. But our society has not been designed to accommodate this new form of family and these family members face many challenges to raising their relative’s children.

Waypoint Family Resource Center of Greater Nashua offers a free “Kinship Navigation Program” for Milford/Nashua area families. The program links kinship caregivers with state benefits, community resources, information and referrals, and offers supports such as food assistance, school supplies, legal aid, gas money to get to appointments and much more.

Could you benefit from the Kinship program supports? Milford families contact Carolyn George can email georgec@waypointnh.org or call 603-518-4390.
