Peabody Mill Environmental Center in Amherst is hosting a monthly series of “I Love Nature!” classes geared toward children, ages 3-6, and their caregivers. Participants will learn about all the fun and amazing things that can be found in the woods around us and explore different habitats. Each session includes a story and discussion time, then an activity related to the monthly topic.
Each session runs the first three Thursdays of the month from 10:00-10:45. Cost is $24/session for Amherst residents and $29/session for non-residents. Be sure to register early to reserve your spot!
Monthly topic schedule is as follows:
February: Things With Wings – Insects, birds and bats. We will focus on a variety of creatures with wings and visit their different shelters here at PMEC.
March: Hibernation – Let us explore animal hibernation and who is asleep in the woods and beginning to wake up. We will focus on a variety of animals and how they survive through the winter at PMEC.
April: Circle of Life – Frogs, butterflies and bugs. We will learn all about the wonders of life and how certain bugs and animals transform!
May: Get Growing- We will focus on different seeds and plants and talk about gardening and how plants grow. We will create journals and head out each week to add new animals and plants to them.
