We all experience moments when staying calm is tough. For young children, with their limited life experience, it can be near impossible. Every skill is new and so many things are hard! They have a budding sense of independence but they just don’t know how to do so many of the things that they’re faced with each day. Simple tasks like getting dressed, opening a door, using a spoon, or working on a favorite puzzle can seem monumental.

Persistence is an incredibly important skill that will be used to foster a solid sense of self-improvement, and stick-with-it attitude throughout life. So how do you encourage your kids to persevere, to continue trying to master a new skill without getting overly frustrated and giving up?

Take a look at this article from PBS Kids for Parents. It’s packed with great ideas to encourage persistence in your children no matter their age or stage.
