February is National Snack Food Month! Healthy snacks play an important role in keeping your kids fueled for their busy, active lives. Kids need more than fancy, convenient packaging and lots of sugar to help provide them the nutrients they need for proper health, stamina, and healthy brain functioning.
Check out this article from Healthy Families Project for more on the importance of, and suggestions for, healthy snacks for your family.
Our partners at Nutrition Connection – UNH Extension are available for no-cost, hands-on, nutrition education programs that provides limited-resource families the knowledge and skills they need for better health. They are New Hampshire’s home for the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education (SNAP-Ed).
**If you’re looking for some extra support to buy groceries and healthy snacks for your family their SNAP Coordinator is available to walk you through the application process! Call 603-669-9725 ext. 1147
