Community Action for Safe Teens (CAST) is a committee of Souhegan Valley Boys and Girls Club. CAST began as a grassroots coalition in 2004. Their primary focus is on empowering youth through leadership, service, and advocacy opportunities; supporting youth and families impacted by substance use disorders, developing a support network for parents throughout their parenting journey, and collaborating with community leaders to build capacity in community wellness initiatives.
Main Services
- Children’s Resiliency Retreat is a monthly one-day retreat (second Saturday of the month Sept – Jun) for school-aged children/youth (Grades 1 – 12) impacted by a loved-one’s substance use disorder (no cost; registration required).
- Community Action for Safe Teens prevention coalition meets 2nd Wednesdays of the month 8:30 – 10:00 a.m. at the Boys & Girls Club.
- Additional programming for older youth includes:
- YES (Youth Empowerment & Service) Team – middle and high school teens with a focus on leadership, service and advocacy relating to issues of concern to teens
